Why Tattoo School?

In today’s society, aspiring Tattoo Artists are starting to have a few more options when it comes to preparing themselves for their careers.  Apprenticing in an actual tattoo shop isn’t as reliable as it used to be.  At times, innocent people are robbed of their education, as well as time and money, due to their teachers.

We here at A.R.T. want to make this career a more accessible one. In this entry, our head instructor, Guy Prandstatter, answers a few commonly asked questions incoming students usually ask.

Q:  In order to become a successful Tattoo Artist do you have to be able to draw well?

A:  It certainly helps to be a great artist. However, if you can’t draw, you can learn to tattoo and still become successful. It all depends on the invidual person and how committed they are to bettering themselves.

Q:  How long does a traditional apprenticeship take to complete?

A:  A normal apprenticeship can vary and will take anywhere from 12-36 months depending on the Tattoo Artist teaching you. What we have created is a system that has the traditional idea of working under someone and earning the craft, but in a structured enviornment.

Q:  When did you realize that this was the career for you?

A:  I used to be a full time musician with a flare for drawing and body art. A friend of mine had offered me a seat in her shop and from then on, I knew that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Q:  Why is A.R.T. a great choice for aspiring artists?

A:  A.R.T. is an excellent choice is because it’s an opportunity to learn from people who are already successful. As long as you are 100% dedicated, we can take you from novice to professional. You’ll learn in an environment staffed by graduates and working tattoo artists. We instill the in the student the respect for the craft and dedication it takes to become great, providing all the benefits of a traditional apprenticship, without the pitfalls.
